I just recently moved from NY to LA, to live my dream of working at Walt Disney Animation. This is blog is meant to chronicle the people, places, and things I encounter here.

Frank Thomas's Mickey
Classic examples of clarity in pose and attitude.
When he worked on Runaway Brain, Andreas Deja compiled these Frank Thomas drawings of Mickey.
Then gave it to Clay Kaytis who had it in his room for a while, now it sits in our office!
Awesome! I kind of like how all of these have a nervous quality. Mickey was always at his best when the situation wasn't quite under control. Check out the six minute mark and how it all changes at 6:40. I always liked this short, but the best part is when Mickey is under pressure and kind of "gets his" after Pluto has been trying so hard at being such a good dog.
Another Frank Thomas scene I wonder?. You're right, those little skittery gestures at "it's you, it is you...you're not pluto" are standouts! Probably the best stuff in that short.
